We have an esteemed panel of speakers.  John Steele, an award winning and long recognized expert on legal ethics, will be speaking about new developments in California legal ethics, including the governing law, the fiduciary duties that lawyers owe clients (e.g., loyalty, confidentiality), and the regulation of lawyers by the State Bar of California.  Dianne Sweeney, head of Pillsbury’s Silicon Valley Litigation Department and President of the SCCBA, along with Roberta Hayashi, Partner at Berliner Cohen, will present on strategies for recognizing and eliminating bias in the courtroom, particularly ways in which attorneys can address cultural, language, and disability barriers that decrease access to justice.    David Mann, from The Other Bar, will provide his own personal perspective on issues of substance abuse, why lawyers are more susceptible to addiction, how to recognize it in oneself and others, and tools to address it.
