Description:  This seminar will deal with the psychology of uncovering cognitive bias – conscious and unconscious, explicit and implicit – and dealing with it in a real-time interactive stop-action mock mediation.

The heuristic bias issues will be presented through lecture and live action demonstration, emphasizing how to recognize cognitive bias in ADR providers, clients, and participants, and in neutralizing its effect.

Issues: Elder bias and abuse, religious bias, gender bias, and cultural bias in a scenario involving ADR in a suit between neighbors of differing religions, genders, cultures, generations, mindsets, and expectations - each with difficult lawyers.
