Join a panel of experienced fee arbitrators for a comprehensive overview of best practices related to attorney time entry and client billing. We will start with the Business and Professions requirements for a written agreement and the required components of the fee agreement. Through case studies we will look at questionable billing practices, such as block billing, vague time entries and attorney “bill padding”, and discuss how to avoid the pitfalls. We will talk about seeing the billing entries from the client's perspective, top complaints voiced by clients in fee arbitration, how to set client's expectations regarding bills, and informally resolve billing disputes with clients.
