Studies show that 1 in 10 lawyers will be sued for malpractice during their career.

Even meritless claims can burden you and your firm with financial and emotional costs. This presentation will highlight common mistakes even the best-intentioned lawyers make that often result in malpractice claims, and provide steps to take to avoid these pitfalls.
This two-hour course will review “best practices” to follow to minimize your risk of malpractice claims.

The presentation will provide:

  • a summary of the potential exposure a mistake can create;
  • the types of malpractice claims that are the most difficult to defend;
  • procedures an attorney can currently employ to assist in the defense of a potential claim;
  • the role of the malpractice insurance provider in defense of a claim;
  • important features of professional liability insurance policies;
  • an overview of the impact of fee disputes have on legal malpractice claims;
  • an interactive discussion with attendees through the use of hypotheticals based on recent malpractice cases.
