Biographical Information
United States
Susana Inda is a first-generation Mexican-American born and raised in San Jose. Although her educational endeavors took her away from home, she returned when she accepted a position as a paralegal with Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (“VTA”) in 2014. Upon passing the California Bar Examination, VTA offered her a staff attorney position. She currently works on the litigation team handling personal injury, eminent domain, and employment cases. She is also the resident expert on the California Public Records Act. In addition, she advises VTA departments on a wide array of matters.

Susana developed a passion for working with immigrant communities and individuals seeking an opportunity to dream the American Dream--the same opportunity her parents once sought—while working at the Merced County Office of the Public Defender, the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and Casa Cornelia, during her undergraduate and law school years. Despite not currently practicing immigration law, she stays close to the issues affecting our communities by serving in professional organizations. In light of current divides within our Nation, she believed that it was imperative to seek positions where she could speak on behalf of those not often heard and encourage underserved youth to seek higher education. Susana became the Vice-President of the Santa Clara County La Raza Lawyers Association in 2016 and has served the last two years as President of the Association. She has also served on the Board of Trustees for the SCCBA since 2016 and on the Executive Committee for the last two years. Susana is also an attorney mentor for the Silicon Valley Urban Debate League where she mentors an immigrant high school student with ambitions to attend law school. In February of 2018, Susana was given the honor to score the championship round of the Santa Clara County Mock Trial Tournament along with District Attorney Jeff Rosen, Alternative Public Defender David Epps and many other prominent legal members from Santa Clara County. She also serves as a member on VTA’s Diversity Committee.

Susana attributes her work ethic, problem-solving skills, and ability to foster positive relations to her parents and working in their family-owned restaurant since the age of 11. She feels very blessed to have had mentors in her personal and professional life who have greatly attributed to her successes and passions.
Susana believes that in order to efficiently and effectively accomplish positive change, we must as humans, do whatever is necessary to understand diverse communities and their needs.
